I have around 15 computer SMPS - those grey metal box ones - looks the same since they started coming into market for Pentium III boxes in 2000.

I think they cost around Rs 400 on the average when purchased new and are very useful in powering robots ( esp. heavy duty motors )

My question is - they run fine, here, on 230V, but would they run, without modification on 110-117V ( if I take part in US/International competition ? )

They are not active PFC type - they are those simple cheap stuff, also often found refurbished at second hand electronics shops.

The power supplies might have a slider switch or jumper facility on board for changing to 110V operation.
Also most power supplies , if supplied in India didn't have the front end RFI filter.
thus they , after mod maight work at 110V in India but may not fit into US standards.

Slider switch all of my SMPS have but when I open cabinet, I see no connection to board Very Happy

Switch is dummy switch!

What nod will you suggest?

Also - how can I get 110V from 230V in India so I can test my SMPS?

as you cant anyway export them to US, why all this?
there are 230 to 110 heavy duty transformers sold by "DELA" company
they charge heavily like Rs1000/-

Why not? Smile

I am planning to carry them by ship with the rest of my books and stuff - that is why I want to be sure.

I checked, and saw that the "ATX" PSU there are very costly, and I anyways have a lot of SMPS.
